Practical information and reservation of stay at the Arctic DTU Research Station in Sisimiut

Accommodation

Arctic DTU has available accommodation in Sisimiut linked to the Research Station.

The flats have 2-3 bedrooms with a shared kitchen, bathroom and living room.

There is free internet in all our housing.

In addition, we have a 10-bedrooms hut divided in two wings each with shared bathrooms, toilets, kitchens, dining- and livings room. All bedrooms have bed, desk, chair and internet.

Accommodation includes access to office space and the possibility to make reservation of laboratories, vehicles and field- and safety equipment if needed.

We can also provide field assistance by appointment.

Accommodation does not include catering.

  • 70 euro/ night
  • 1000 euro/ month

How to book a stay at the research station

  1. Contact Arctic DTU on phone or mail about initial needs and when you wish to stay with us
  2. Please fill in the form
  3. As soon as you have booked your tickets write a mail to arctic@dtu.dk with the following information:
    - Date and time of arrival and departure + flight number
    - Purpose of the stay (teaching /research /other)
    - Attach the form

You will receive a confirmation of your application. 14 days before arrival, you will receive information about the accommodation that has been reserved for you. We try to meet all wishes but it will not always be possible.

For longer stays at campus, as PhD, postdoc or associate professor, you must find your own apartment in the city. We can often help you with accommodation in our facilities for the first 3 months and help you find your own flat through our cooperation with the municipality.

You will be billed at the end of your stay. Please contact Tina Chapman at arrival.

Safety

Be aware that you as a visitor to the Research Station are expected to familiarize yourself with our safety rules and will need to complete an online quiz on the subject.

Vehicle

When you arrive, you can book a car on hourly basis, at campus. If you want to make sure that, you have access to a car during your whole stay we recommend you to rent your own car in town. We also have a couple of bikes to use for free.

Booking Laboratory access

If you need laboratory access for teaching, be aware that we use the laboratories at KTI (5 min. walk from campus). To book a time slot in the laboratories, please contact (contact information coming soon).

Booking of Qulleq FabLab, Sisimiut

Arctic DTU Sisimiut has an institutional membership of Qulleq Fablab. This means that associated researchers at campus or the research station can make reservations of the FabLab without having to pay for anything other than the materials. Arctic DTU does not cover material consumption.

When booking a time slot for using FabLab:

  1. Contact Qulleq FabLab directly on fablab@kti.gl
  2. Name and contact details
  3. Time slot
  4. Number of people
  5. Where the invoice for the use of materials has to be sent to (your home institution – not Arctic DTU)

Insurances

Please make sure that you have the necessary insurance policies for working in the Arctic (f.inst. emergency, sickness or field-work) before arrival.
